Who is the best goalkeeper in the Premier League at the moment? Heres what youve been telling us so far... Here, we start with their goalkeepers. In Kasper Schmeichel, Hugo Lloris, Petr Cech and Joe Hart, Leicester, Tottenham, Arsenal and Manchester City have some of the finest shot-stoppers in the division. But what do the stats say about their performances so far in 2015/16? We take a look… Keepers compared Player Team Int caps Transfer fee Petr Cech Arsenal 118 (Czech Rep.) £10m Hugo Lloris Tottenham 74 (France) £11.8m Joe Hart Man City 57 (England) £1.5m Kasper Schmeichel Leicester City 18 (Denmark) £1.26m Clean sheets & goals conceded Arsenals Petr Cech has kept the most clean sheets Tottenham currently have the top defence in the Premier League. Mauricio Pochettinos side have conceded just 19 times this season - although Lloris has only been on the field for 18 of those goals. That puts him ahead of Hart (who has conceded 21 of Man Citys 26), Cech (who has conceded all 22 of Arsenals goals) and Schmeichel (who has conceded all 27 of Leicesters goals). Schmeichels number is on the rise, though. Leicester have kept five clean sheets in their last seven Premier League matches, more than they had managed in their previous 18. In fact, only Stokes Jack Butland has had to make more saves in the Premier League.Cech has made 85 saves so far this season - 19 more than Leicesters Schmeichel. The Arsenal keeper has also had to pull off the most stops from shots inside the box.Despite his high workload, Cech has still managed to maintain the best save percentage of regular goalkeepers in the Premier League. The Czech Republic international has kept out 79.05 per cent of the shots on his goal. According to Opta, the 29-year-olds only goalkeeping fault this season came in Saturdays 3-1 win at Man City, when he dropped the ball.Leicester went unpunished on that occasion - but Lloris, Hart and Cech have not been so fortunate.Tottenhams Lloris has two drops to his name this season and, more significantly, two errors leading to goals. Kasper Schmeichel has been ever-present for the Foxes so far this season Opta deemed he should have done better to keep out Kieran Gibbs 77th-minute equaliser in Novembers north London derby and he only managed to flick Chancel Mbembas header to Aleksandar Mitrovic in the December defeat to Newcastle.Hart, meanwhile, handed Norwich an 83rd-minute lifeline in October when he dropped Robbie Bradys cross at the feet of Cameron Jerome to equalise - although a late Yaya Toure penalty secured all three points for Man City. And Cech began the season in the worst possible way, misjudging Dimitri Payets free-kick to allow Cheikhou Kouyate to head into an empty net and put West Ham on course for a 2-0 win at the Emirates. Increasingly, goalkeepers footballing skills are coming under the microscope. So how do the top-fours shot-stoppers deal with the ball at their feet?Leicesters Schmeichel has made the most passes of regular Premier League goalkeepers (734) but actually has the lowest passing accuracy among the goalkeepers for the top-four sides (31.61 per cent). However, an explainer for that is a remarkable 86 per cent of Schmeichels passes - 634 - have ended up in the oppositions half. Thats a Premier League high. Joe Hart has a passing accuracy of 54.08 per cent His completion rate for these long passes is just 23.43 per cent, though. Thats way down on Cechs accuracy with long passes. The Arsenal keeper completes 37.14 per cent of his balls into the oppositions final third - although he does generally have target man Olivier Giroud to aim for.Tottenhams Lloris has the best passing accuracy among the Premier Leagues regular goalkeepers, completing 63.31 per cent of his passes.Interestingly, the contrast between the tactics used by Leicester and Spurs can be seen in their goalkeepers passing stats - Lloris has made the second-fewest number of passes into the oppositions final third, of regular Premier League keepers. NEW YORK -- Baruch College gave 30 student-athletes more than $255,000 in improper benefits over the course of five years, NCAA officials said in a decision issued Thursday. The NCAA Division III Committee on Infractions said the schools former vice president for student affairs and enrollment management and its former head womens basketball coach both violated NCAA ethical conduct rules. As I stated unambiguously to the NCAA, Baruch College accepts, and takes full responsibility for, the fact that some improper benefits were made available to a limited number of student-athletes during the period from 2010-2015, Baruch Colleges President Mitchel B. Wallerstein said in a statement. The committee said in its report that it had not seen a high-level campus administrator who had such breadth and scope of responsibilities in an infractions case as the former vice president. The former vice president wanted to raise the profile of athletics at the college and as part of that effort he was closely involved in the recruitment, admission and awarding of financial aid for prospects and student-athletes, especially in the sport of womens basketball, Gerald Houlihan, a member of the infractions committee. The administrator and coach were not named in the report and university officials declined to name them. The former vice president, who was with the institution for 10 years, and former head womens basketball coach knowingly arranged or provided impermissible financial aid and extra benefits to student-athletes, according to the NCAA.However, the former vice president claimed he did not receive education on NCAA rules, therefore the violations were inadvertent. The former head womens basketball coach also said he had insufficient rules education, according to the NCAA.The penalties include four years of probation, a one-year postseason ban for the womens basketball team and prohibiting the coach and vice president from all athletically relaated duties for one year.ddddddddddddWhen asked about the possibility of an appeal, Baruch spokesperson Christina Latouf said the college will digest the information and respond at another time. The school in Manhattan has 18,000 students and 13 sports teams, according to its website.Violations included granting in-state residency based on athletics, providing impermissible financial aid, cash awards and extra benefits and choosing student-athletes for resident assistant positions when they were not qualified. The case started when Baruch College received two anonymous letters in early 2013 that alleged the former vice president provided two student-athletes improper financial aid. An internal investigation was conducted and a self-report was submitted to the NCAA enforcement staff in January 2014.Wallerstein said the college made some changes during the course of the NCAAs investigation, including revamping the role of the athletics director, appointing a new faculty athletics representative, establishing an athletics compliance team and improving training on student-athlete recruitment and financial aid. This was not the first time Baruch College was found to have committed major violations. In the 2004-05 and 2005-06 academic years, the womens basketball program was involved in a work-study program that wasnt monitored correctly and led to extra benefits and wages for work not completed. Penalties included one year probation, a $5,000 penalty, vacated wins, and a two-game suspension for an assistant coach.Houlihan said the prior case did not factor into the committees decision.I am committed to having an Athletics Program at Baruch College of which our students, faculty, staff, and the entire Baruch community can be proud and that is managed in an ethical and responsible fashion, Wallerstein said.
