Leroy Houston cannot quite believe he could make his Australia Test debut on Saturday -- almost 11 years after the last time he represented the Wallabies.Bath favourite Houston thought his chances of international rugby had deserted him, before winning a seat on Australias bench for Saturdays Rugby Championship clash with Argentina at Twickenham. The 29-year-old last wore his countrys green and gold when Australia A thrashed the French Barbarians 42-12 in Bordeaux in November 2005.Three standout years at Bath have put Houston back on the Wallabies radar, with the bullish flanker joining the Queensland Reds for next season.Asked if he ever gave up hope on his Australia dream, Houston said: Yeah of course. I was just playing rugby -- I didnt think Id ever get back into the Wallabies. But the chance has come around and Im very happy to take it. I cant put it into words, emotions are running high. Now the thing is to try to keep calm and just prepare the right mental space to play against the Pumas.Knock on wood Ill be able to come off the bench and hopefully get that debut. I didnt think Id be involved at all this year.Then-Australia boss Eddie Jones took an extended Wallabies squad on the 2005 Europe tour in bid to boost long-term resources. Houston impressed against the French Barbarians, but was unable to force his way into the Wallabies set-up in the long-run.Stints in France and then with Bath have forced another step towards the Test arena however, with Houston itching for the chance to grace the Twickenham field this weekend.Houston left Bath at the end of last term only to return on a loan deal that expires at the end of the month. The likeable loose-forward admitted he has been relieved to end his time at The Recreation Ground on favourable terms.Back in 2005 I was just star-struck to be honest, looking up to players like Stephen Larkham and George Smith. I was really, really shy. I didnt speak too much because I couldnt believe I was with those guys, getting to train and play with them. The last time I was at Twickenham with the Wallabies I was a spectator, on that 2005 tour. The English anthem gave me goosebumps. I love Bath, the supporters there are great. So its been emotional; going back there was awesome. This time I get to say goodbye, and also look to the future and playing for the Reds. I wanted to give back to the supporters. I left on short-notice with them, and they are such a great supporting base that I felt like I left on a bit of a bad note. They gave me the opportunity to come back until the end of October and finish up hopefully on a high note.Stephen Moore was a substitute in that powerful 2005 victory over the French Barbarians the last time Houston graced a Wallabies shirt. Australias current captain hailed Houstons 11-year odyssey as proof it is never too late to force a Test debut.I remember Leroy had a really strong game against the French Barbarians, and that was my first Wallabies tour, said Moore. Its amazing to see that after all that time he now gets his chance for a possible Wallabies debut.Hes taken the chance to play club rugby in the northern hemisphere and been able to prove his quality. Of course hes coming back to play at the Reds next year but its a good indication that no matter what you do there can always be an opportunity if you want it.Pittsburgh Penguins Pro Shop .Y. -- The Buffalo Sabres have placed centre Cody Hodgson on injured reserve and recalled two players from their AHL affiliate in Rochester. Anthony Davis had 31 points and 17 rebounds in his seventh straight game with more than 20 points, but that was only enough to keep the Pelicans competitive into the final minutes. Andrew Bogut had 10 points and 15 rebounds for Golden State, which rebounded from a loss a night earlier in Oklahoma City and snapped a two-game skid. Custom Pittsburgh Penguins Jerseys .J. -- Seven games into a disappointing season, New York Giants defensive catalyst Jason Pierre-Paul is getting the feeling hes back.LAKE PLACID, N.Y. -- Tatjana Huefner finally figured out Mount Van Hoevenberg and got a record-setting win in the process. The German star tied the career record for World Cup womens luge wins on Saturday, holding off the Canadian duo of Kimberley McRae and Alex Gough to get her 37th victory on the circuit -- tying Sylke Otto of Germany for the all-time lead.Huefners two-run time was 1 minute, 28.638 seconds, good enough to put her into the World Cup season points lead. Canadians took the second and third spots, with McRae taking silver in 1:28.706 and Gough the bronze in 1:28.703.Huefner has now won a World Cup on 13 different tracks, after never before finishing first on Lake Placids ice. But she was the best Saturday, building up enough of a lead in her first run that even some minor trouble in her second trip down the track wasnt enough to keep her from the victory.Never in my wildest dreams did I think Id achieve this record victory in Lake Placid, of all places, Huefner said. Its unreal. She threw both fists in the air when she crossed the finish line, then hugged a stream of coaches and teammates who came over to offer their congratulations. Lake Placid has never been her favorite track, evidenced by the 2007-08 season when Huefner won every World Cup race except the one at Mount Van Hoevenberg.Later Saturday in the team relay, Canada won a surprising gold, with Russia second and the Americans third. The relay win, combined with two medals in the womens race, gave Canada one of its best days in World Cup history. This is something that our program has needed, said Canadian mens luge veteran Sam Edney. For as good as things were for Huefner and the Canadians, it was a puzzler for the U.S.Americans took gold, silver and bronze in the womens World Cup race in Lake Placid last year -- but got shut out in thhat event Saturday after some stumbles.ddddddddddddummer Britcher was second after one run of the womens race, but she managed only a fourth-place finish to lead the USA Luge entrants in 1:28.758. That was one spot ahead of reigning Olympic and world champion Natalie Geisenberger of Germany, who remained third on the all-time World Cup win list with 34.Britcher has now been fourth or better in six of her last 13 World Cup starts, but her disappointment was obvious.I think I need a little bit of perspective before I can really approach that, Britcher said.Emily Sweeney, who has been slowed at the start of her runs by a wrist injury, was sixth for the U.S., and fellow American Erin Hamlin, who won a world championship at Lake Placid in 2009 and a World Cup there last season, skidded a bit midway through her second run and finished seventh. Its definitely disappointing, said Hamlin, who had a huge cheering contingent from her hometown of Remsen, New York, trackside. I didnt have great training all week, so I cant really expect for a ton more today even though it is my home track. I had mistakes in both runs. Its so competitive now in our field so you have to be perfect. Also for the U.S., Raychel Germaine was 10th in the womens event. The Americans needed some help in the relay to get to the medal stand and got it from the Germans, when Olympic champion Felix Loch had trouble in his portion of the relay. That sent the heavily favored Germans tumbling to seventh, and got the U.S. team of Britcher, Tucker West, Matt Mortensen and Jayson Terdiman to the podium as bronze relay winners.West won the mens race Friday for USA Luge, while Mortensen and Terdiman took silver in the doubles race.
